SMC Synergy is currently collaborating with the North-West University (NWU - School of Biological Sciences) on a bush encroachment project (funded by DEA NRM) as well as training of students in the use of GIS in environmental projects. We are also assisting the University in the development of Bush Expert - a cloud based Bush Encroachment Project Management System. The system was recently demonstrated to the De-bushing Advisory Service (DAS) that is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Windhoek, Namibia. An Advanced Global Mapper GIS training course was presented to post graduate students at the School of Biological Sciences during April 2018. The training included a module on the processing of field data captured by means of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) - creation/rectification of ortho-photo mosaics and point clouds.
