SMC Synergy and UAV Technologies testing drone magnetometer
During the week of 15 October 2020 SMC Synergy and UAV Technologies tested a drone based magnetometer at a test site near Pretoria. Results of this survey will be evaluated through a comparison with field magnetic data captured with a Geotron Model G5 Proton magnetometer. The drone magnetometer has been supplied by a company in Germany for testing under South African conditions. SMC Synergy envisages that a positive outcome of this evaluation could speed up the collection of magnetic data for mineral and petroleum exploration, groundwater and geo-hydrological surveys, geological mapping as well as engineering geology surveys.
